“If I Had A Dime,” the first release from Warren Thomas Fenzi’s upcoming dual-album Garden Street, offers a quick glimpse into the narrator’s journey of self-reflection at the close of a longtime friendship. The track features a comfortable electric piano hook over laid-back drums and hand percussion. Add shoegazey guitar and the salt spray of an ocean wave and we are instantly at ease with this indie songwriting classic.
Though transforming solo songwriting works into fully orchestrated tracks can be quite a challenge, Fenzi certainly rises to the occasion here with a beautifully designed arrangement. The warm reverb, washy percussion, ambient guitar and ocean sounds radiate evenly throughout the song, offering a peaceful soundscape for personal reflection. We hope the rest of the album will be packed with little glimmers of beach glass, like this track.
