New York City-based band, Ghostly Times, just unleashed their anthemic album, Mirage. At 7-tracks long, I suppose this is technically an EP, depending on what your definition is, but who cares because this thing absolutely rips! Hitting you from the first note with an infectious energy and keeping the momentum throughout, this is a release that's tough to take off repeat.
Elements of indie, alt-rock, emo, and post-hardcore are all present here. The band shines brightly by being able to blend these styles together and deliver a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshing. Poppy vocal flows are present in each track and are heavily complimented by dynamic and heartfelt instrumentals. There's also a math rock element that's present in the guitar work, adding an additional push to the overall style.
Each track flows seamlessly into the next in Mirage. That's a big reason why this release feels so complete and full. By the time it's over, all you'll want to do is hear more. That's exactly what an EP is supposed to do. We're not sure what Ghostly Times has planned next, but this is a band that any fan of the style NEEDS to keep on their radar.
You can jam along to the new album in its entirety below. We also added a couple of our personal favorite tracks to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow Ghostly Times so you can stay on top of their future releases. Enjoy!
