The first line is "I'll shake the ground beneath your feet", and believe me, this isn't just hyperbole. Love Like Enemies make good on this promise on "Overgrowth/Competition" with a solid, intense metal delivery complemented beautifully by driving, chugging guitars and a nasty rhythm section. I'm always a sucker for deep growls juxtaposed by sweet, almost soothing singing, and this band gets it very right.
From what I can gather, and please excuse the oversimplification, this song is about getting lemons and making lemonade. Finding strength in camaraderie and solace in the fact that we all face hardship is a strong message. You're not alone.
Well written and produced, with great guitar hooks and an uplifting chorus, this one will give you a bit of inspiration to take control of your surroundings, to sail your own ship as opposed to letting it steer YOU into the rocks. And to that I say, Aye aye, Captain.
