People have the average attention span of a mosquito these days. Constant short bursts of info paired with increasingly shorter bursts of dopamine have left us all dangerously short on focus and patience. Don't believe me? Go read about the huge uptick in manhole-related deaths in the last 10 years. No, there is no punchline here, just a bunch of humans who look up from their phones so seldom that they're simply failing to see open manholes and falling right in. That's where we're at. What a time to be alive.
Unless senility is finally setting in, that's exactly what Dragged Under are frustrated with in their new, hard-as-nails song "Brainrot." It affects musicians and artists perhaps most of all. Gone are the days of the full album, people barely have the focus for an entire song anymore. Which segues nicely into this song. Impressive screamed and sung vocals play nicely off each other, and the musicianship is equal parts heavier than hell and tight as a drum. Or many drums, as it were.
Check out Dragged Under if you're a fan of any genre of metal or hardcore, they're covering a lot of bases here, and covering them well at that. Did you actually read this far or did you lose interest already?
Now stop reading and start listening.
We added the single to our Underground Punk and our Heavy Heavy Heavy playlists on Spotify.
