"Play with fire boy you're gonna get burned!"
"No Rhyme or Reason" is a single dropped earlier this month by England-based punk rockers Segregates. Boasting a classic punk sound that blends in elements of hard rock and straight-up rock n roll, this is an inviting new tune that pulls heavily on a nostalgic energy while still feeling new. That's not an easy accomplishment. What a release!
Ripping guitars take you through this track as you're handed powerful vocal flows, groovy bass lines, and crashing drums. For simplicity purposes, you could link this sound to a band like Motorhead, but where Segregates shine is being able to capture that classic and raw feeling and bring it into the modern world. Production is spot-on, but far from over-produced. The energy in this track is unreal, and it's a reminder that this type of raw rock still exists and it fucking rips! This is punk rock n roll at its core, and "No Rhyme or Reason" will serve as a modern-day anthem for any fan of the genre.
It's not too often that we come across a new jam that's enjoyable when left on repeat. By the time this new single is over, it's way too easy to run it back and let it take you for another ride. This song just makes you want to move. I have been skateboarding my entire life, but last year I took a pretty bad slam (especially for a chick). I haven't been on my board since, but while I'm sitting here writing this feature, all I can think about is heading out to the park, putting in my headphones, hitting play on Segregates, and dropping in.
