“Well I like a drink and I like a smoke, a little gamble or two.” With opening lines like that, UK band Filthy Filthy are after my old heart. For I too enjoy all of those things, although I hesitate to say that years of hard practice have made me better at any of them.
“Running With the Dogs” is an upbeat, energetic street punk anthem backed by a healthy dose of swagger and I can dig it. Fans of Cock Sparrer, Dropkick Murphys, etc. will love this one and I should know, because I’m a fan of those bands myself. Sometimes the best songs are simple songs about simple pleasures, delivered with a beat you can dance to. This is one of those songs and I fear it will turn into another earworm for your reviewer. Well done boys, keep up the good work, and hit me up if you’re ever stateside.
Side note: These boys are from Hull, which I believe is in Yorkshire. If you ever try Yorkshire pudding, please be aware that as Americans, it will be as far from anything you consider pudding as humanly possible. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
