The latest track from Nashville rock band Southpost is a zero-to-sixty reeling coaster ride through the peaks, plummets, and corkscrews of last year’s ubiquitous turmoil. We often find that the best writing is that which can be applied both on a grand global scale and within deeply personal matters. “Play/Pretend” could be equally interpreted as criticism mixed with hope for a close friend heretofore led astray or as disappointment at the apparent decline in everyday decorum worldwide. Smooth, finely arranged guitar riffs, a compelling, unflagging pulse, and expressive soaring vocals drive this austere and poignant piece home.
We added this track to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify. Listen to “Play/Pretend,” then follow Southpost for more band news.
