Tennessee-based rock trio southpost have just released a new emo rock single entitled “A New Beginning.” Clean guitar arpeggios open the track under smooth pop vocals and crispy drums. The lyrics are searching and wistful within a soft major key tonality that later evolves into a heavier metalcore style chorus with crunchy guitar riffs and crashing drums. We really like the transition between the softer contemplative verses and the minor-to-major tone shift in the weightier chorus sections, and think it makes for an appealing and dynamic song arrangement.
