“Gr[e]ay,” the newest release from NY indie-rock duo Glom, is magnetic brilliance. The track’s appeal lies in its classic lyrics, simple verse melody, and sonically heightened chorus, while pleasantly wavering guitar, subtle synth, and lofi drums add a modern new wave flair.
It’s not often we hear a song where the modest verse hook arguably resonates longer than the vibrant, but curt chorus. It sort of turns the whole pop format on its head, and we think that’s cool. We could listen to this artful track for hours.
