Skate Punk? Pop Punk? Hardcore? Street Punk? Who cares?
And therein, my friends, lies everything I love about today's music scene-it really doesn't matter anymore. Today's bands can choose whatever they want to be influenced by, however disparate those influences might've seemed 30 years ago, and what's more, they can proudly wear every single one on their sleeve.
FarFarAway are one such band, blending and jumping genres with reckless abandon because it's truly all about the end-product and in the case of "Housewives in Suburban Ghettos", the end product is damn good.
The vocalist has an affable Pop Punk quality to his singing voice, but can scream at the drop of a hat. The musicians can be as simple or as technical as they please because they understand when and where each is needed, and that's the most important part: arrangement. Bands today can do practically whatever they want, as long as they have a good, cohesive vision of where they want to end up. Bravo, FarFarAway, you cracked the cheat code. Keep 'em coming.
