"We're never gonna get ahead if we're burying each other up to our necks. How can it be for the best, if there's never time to rest?" As a rock music reviewer, I'm seeing this sentiment repeated again and again, and Desk Job. does have a strong means of delivery. It's the agenda of the crooked powers that be to divide the lower classes, to keep us fighting amongst ourselves while simultaneously trampling all over our "inalienable rights" and robbing us blind. The message seems to be that these megalomaniacs only have the power we give them, and instead of focusing on the small things we may disagree on, maybe it's time to find common ground and focus on what we can all see happening in real time. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
"America's Got Talent", the vehicle with which Desk Job. conveys this message, is a catchy, very well-produced mid-tempo punk number, with strong vocal delivery and much better than average musicianship. Powerful backing vocals and a very well-written lead guitar line package the message nicely, and we're seeing that message more and more.
Keep it coming, people, it's our civic responsibility to speak up as our personal freedoms slowly slip away, and punk rock was specifically designed as a means to that end. Bravo, Desk Job., well done.
