BACK EAST RELEASES NEW SINGLE - "HIGH ON LIFE"
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: mid-tempo, four-chord Punk Rock, when done correctly, could save us all. So simple and yet so emotional. So easy to play and yet so difficult to play well.
Such is the case with Switzerland's Back East (Switzerland? Did NOT see that coming.) and their latest offering, "High On Life".
Gruff, well-delivered vocals, simple tempo and melody, perfectly appropriate rolling basslines, we've heard it all a thousand times, sure. But when it's done correctly, you feel it in your chest, and that's as rare as it gets. There's something powerfully poetic about the limited options and infinite possibilities of straight-forward Punk, and that's why I'll support the genre till I go toes up. Well done and bravo to my new Swiss friends: you gave me the goosebumps, and that's no small feat.
We added the single to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
