"Scranton Tailspin" is a skate punk update to a classic trope shared and written about across the decades: Take this job and shove it. And it does so in a listenable, relatable way. The technical guitar work and well-written rhythms bring me back to a better time when punk was having a resurgence, and all was right with the world. (Hell, the video even includes shots from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and that just made my heart happy.)
Bouncy, fun, and with sentiments that are even more applicable today, Zakmes has a good time singing about being sick of bad times. This band would be right at home playing with Strung Out or Lagwagon, and I mean that as a huge compliment.
Additionally, as a punk musician myself, I definitely relate to the complaint that most of us have to work mundane jobs just to support a pursuit who's intrinsic value should earn enough to keep us alive. Well done homies, keep your Dutch chins up and keep 'em coming.
