Hit after hit after hit! I swear, this must be our fifth time covering something from The Dirty Nil in under a year. This is a band boasting an unstoppable force of catchy and anthemic tunes. Their 2021 album "Fuck Art" is a perfect example of that. We're stoked to hear that one of our personal favorites "Damage Control" just got the added bonus of a music video.
Led by an epic intro, the track takes the listener into calming and soothing verses before erupting into powerful and singalong choruses. When you add in elements of impressive instrumental and vocal work, unique transitions, spot-on production, and an earth-shattering breakdown, you're then left with yet another hit from The Dirty Nil. Side note... we cannot wait to see these guys live! The music video they released for "Damage Control" is just as rad as the track itself.
"Damage Control is a song that touches upon both the hard moments in life, as well as our individual perception of those moments. We all want to run “damage control” when things aren’t going our way, but the reality of the situation is different in the minds of each person involved. I was quite drawn to the line “beware the things you wanna feel, ‘cause that don’t mean they’re real”. To me, this line speaks to our ability as people to gravitate towards feelings, or our own personal bias, but in the process losing touch with a shared, concrete reality.
For the music video, I wanted to break those two pieces of the song along very literal lines: There is the peril that each band member experiences, but on the other hand, we keep being pulled back out of a dream state and left wondering if any of this is real. The personal bias is made literal by the fact that the wizard in the story is toying with The NILs perception of reality and the possible future". - Director/Animator Greg Doble
"Damage Control" has been added to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify. We're not sure what the band has planned next, but make sure to follow them (linked above) to see what else they have going on. Check out their new music video below!
