Orlando, FL-based band, Flagman, recently released their latest single, "Hot Off The Log". If this is your introduction to the band, well, then, you're welcome. As a writer, it's pretty much impossible to put the band's sound into words. It's even harder to compare them to relatable artists. For broad stoke purposes, think along the lines of Primus or Mr. Bungle. Still, that doesn't quite do it justice...
Flagman has been gaining some serious steam recently. One reason for this is that their level of musicianship pairs incredibly well with their songwriting skills. "Hot Off The Log" is a perfect example of this. The instrumental is absolutely insane, the timing is weird, the transitions are super unique, and yet the song still comes off as a certified bop that's incredibly easy to listen to and enjoy. It's like an orchestrated chaos that you just won't be able to get enough of.
In the middle of their unrelenting sound is a beautifully crafted singalong hook that seems to pull everything together.
