Warm nostalgia washes over us from the start of Rightfield’s latest track “Birthday Party", from their new album "Rightfield, One". It feels like gazing out the window on a long car ride home and watching the streetlights flash by. Acoustic and electric sounds are woven together so smoothly that the track isn’t audibly dated into one fixed musical era. With prominent acoustic guitar sampling, vintage drum machine beats, and swirling reverb-affected vocals, it reminds us of Post Malone’s “Circles,” but with less overt pop production and more DIY indie-pop vibes. A bit of whistling adds a nice cozy touch on the end.
