You ever get the urge to quit your job, pick up your best girl, put in some great tunes and drive till you run out of road? If so, have I got a song for you. Power trio Local Hero have indeed written a song about that exact scenario and you can crank it up whilst literally doing precisely what they’re singing about. (Is that what the kids call “meta”?)
Simple, driving beats and guitars meet passionate vocals, what’s not to love? About halfway through the track “End of the World”, I started to think of great American rock. Social D, Springsteen, Tom Petty, etc. And then, like magic, they hit me with the harmonica solo and I thought to myself, “Dude, maybe you’re pretty good at this whole music review thing, maybe you’re an outright genius!” I don’t say that about myself of course, but other people might say it about me. You don’t know. Anyhoo, my point is that if you give me good, simple punk rock with some catchy, relatable lyrics, I’ll drive my car to the end of the world. Because apparently the world is flat now, and you can just drive right off the edge. Well done, Local Hero. Well done.
