TRACK FEATURE: HARKER - "NO RADIO"
Well, Harker is a helluva good band. There's so much anger, dissent and aggression in today's punk and metal, and it's most welcome and more necessary than ever. But with their new song, "No Radio", Harker hones in on some emotional elements that many others miss. Passion. Heart. Inspiration.
Reminds me of another oft-overlooked UK band from a bygone era: Snuff.
Bouncing Souls a bit too, but more in feeling than literal similarity. In a sea of galloping skate-punk beats and midtempo hardcore, it's tough to do anything new, anything that's singularly yours. To convey heart and passion is tough because it's an unsaid quality. Intangible.
Harker has that quality, along with a sound that borders on reckless while remaining tight and well-produced by people who clearly know what they want and how to get it. I hesitate to use words like "anthemic" and "heartfelt" but hey, if the shoe fits...
Well done, this was one of the more enjoyable listens of late.
We added the single to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
