Toronto trio The Man Who have released an edgy dark pop single entitled “Cage.” Drizzling surf guitar, fuzzy bass, deep synth, and a combo of circus street organ tones and detuned toy piano craft a suspenseful shadowy soundscape with cunning vocal melodies that bolt through the gloom like a thief in the night. Huge, surmounting choruses dispel the fog with awesome, gleaming light.
We are reminded of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest and Måns Zelmerlöw’s performance of the winning dark pop knockout “Heroes." But here, The Man Who has escalated the stakes with a more progressive cadence, subtle writing, and a commanding sonic presence. This is signature writing with inescapable allure.
We added this track to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. Dive into “Cage," then follow The Man Who for more band updates.
