NYC indie band Meyru is back with a cool new single and album teaser entitled “Playing This Alone.” Dreamy guitars spin under relaxed indie vocals set to a 50s doo wop beat. Maybe it’s the unprecedented staying power of Grease, but anything with a pop chord progression, prominent bass, and a relaxed 6/8 beat (i.e. “Beauty School Dropout) automatically sounds like a classic young-love ballad.
And that’s exactly the band’s aim here, with song lyrics related to adolescent relationship woes. We love the idea and think this track really hits the mark.
We added this track to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. Sing along with “Playing This Alone” below and follow Meyru for more album updates.
