Lexington pop-punkers Local Violence have just released an emotive and discerning new track entitled “218.” In the verses, it has a quiet, somewhat reserved pop punk flair, but everything builds over time to an unambiguous chorus. This knowing turn of phrase in the chorus hook we find especially resonant - “I’ve spent far too long biting my tongue, and I’m stuck here choking on my blood.” Anyone who has experienced a relationship in which you felt the need to hide aspects of yourself for the sake of the other person will catch feelings from this song.
The music video escalates systematically along with the track, providing a visual complement to the song’s thematic content. (Of course, we are also total marks for a well-placed pro-wrestling move.) We added this track to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify. Check out the video for “218” below and follow Local Violence for more band updates.
