ALBUM FEATURE: THE HOT TAKES - "THE HOT TAKES II"

The Hot Takes II is an EP released last year by Oakland-based band, The Hot Takes. Boasting a dynamic sound that's fueled by elements of indie rock, punk, pop rock, alternative, and straight-up rock n roll, this is an anthemic release that's tough to take off repeat. In a 5-track ride, the band has succeeded in delivering a set of songs that leaves you wanting more, and that's exactly what an EP is supposed to do.

Pulling you in with an uplifting and bright instrumental, you're soon taken on a journey of explosive choruses, poppy vocal flows, and spot-on production. Each track flows seamlessly into the next on this release, and that's a big reason why The Hot Takes II feels so complete and full. Unique transitions in each track keep you engaged from start to finish, and the impressive songwriting solidifies the energy for the whole EP.

It's always refreshing to come across a set of songs that feel nostalgic while at the same time new. The Hot Takes took their rock n roll influences and added in their own style. The end result is a melodic sound that serves as quite the anthemic introduction to the band's sound. We're not sure what they have planned next, but we are sure that this is a band that every fan of the genre needs to keep on their radar.

You can jam along to the EP in its entirety below. We also added a couple of tracks to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow The Hot Takes so you can stay on top of what else they have going on. Enjoy!
