L.A.-based artist, The Artist Ren, recently dropped their powerful new EP, Under the Bleachers. Boasting heartfelt lyrical work, this is an anthemic 6 track ride that pulls you in from the first note and keeps you engaged until the release is over. By the time it's done, all you want to do is hear more, and that's exactly what an EP is supposed to do.
The production work on this is spot-on, and it amplifies the impressive songwriting. Under the Bleachers features a very nostalgic sound. Elements of indie rock clash with indie pop in a very deliberate way. Soft vocals are present in each track, and when paired with the melodic instrumental, the combo takes you seamlessly from one song to the next.
There's also a very groovy sound in this release. It's this wide array of sounds that made the EP hit as hard as it does. While the music itself isn't heavy, the emotion that pours out of it is. We're not sure what The Artist Ren has planned next, but we're really excited to see what kind of traction this release brings them.
You can jam the EP in its entirety below. We also added a couple of tracks to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow The Artist Ren to stay on top of what else they have going on. Enjoy!
