All of these seemingly contradictory styles appear in “Shallow,” the newest release from rock band The World Over. It’s power metalcore that is dramatic, soulful, and provoking, with something deeply stirring in the lyrical see-saw between a bracing melodic line that beseeches “I can’t let it get to me,” later “I won’t let it get to me,” and an animalistic snarl that screams “you’re not worth my time.”
