For this Track Feature we're looking at "Eat Us Or We'll Eat You", the newest effort from Chicago based Indie band Upstairs. We'll tell you right from the beginning, this is is a very unique track. Honestly, it won't be for everybody, but it really clicked with us. The song takes you on quite a journey, and leaves you baffled by the time it's over, but in a good way.
The song starts off with a beautiful and gentle string led instrumental. A few seconds in, you start to hear the dual lead vocals. Two different singers, two different vocal melodies, two different leads. It's something we've never really heard before. At first, it's a little jarring, but the vocals end up meeting in the most euphonious way during the songs chorus. On top of that, you have a relentless instrumental that drives the song forward through its unique transitions before ending on an anthemic bridge/outro.
Getting closer to the end of the year, we've been starting to think of candidates for the "Best Of 2020" list we'll be creating. At this point, I'd say it's safe to say that you can expect to see "Eat Us Or We'll Eat You" on that list. We've also added this track to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. Take a listen to the track below, and if it's your thing, make sure to follow the band (linked above) to check out the rest of their tunes.
