I usually try to stay away from using the band's own bio in my reviews because it seems exceedingly lazy to me, and in a world of AI and phoned-in blurbs, I like to try to give that little bit extra. (It is, after all, the difference between ordinary and EXTRAordinary, right? Eh? See what I did there?)
With that being said, when you've got a blind rhythm guitarist and a pro wrestler for a lead singer; PLUS you've made AP's Top 50 upcoming pop-punk bands, that bears repeating. Color me equal-parts impressed and interested.
I also try to ignore the videos for the songs, (if there is one at all), but when the whole thing is just the singer in front of various Taco Bell locations, now you're after my old, black heart. Now I'm Crunch Wrap Supremely interested. (Damn, I'm on fire today.)
Always Grounded are an exceptional pop-punk band to boot. Super catchy and memorable hooks with a vocal delivery reminiscent of all your favorite singers in that genre, there's very little not to like. The breakdowns, cut-time melodies and gang vocals are professional and I even liked the little spoken word part. But what impressed me most at first listen were the drums. It's incredibly difficult to "spruce up" simple time signatures without sounding like you're trying to show off, but it's done incredibly well here, bravo.
Overall, if you like Pop Punk, this is a must-hear, and it's easy to see why they're getting accolades. And again, I cannot stress this enough, there's also a blind guitarist, pro wrestling, and Taco Bell.
